Tacking on text at the beginning and end of rows 2

Can I add some text to the beginning and the end of rows in a VARCHAR field, please, Experts?

The purpose is to add some html code - <div class="Names"> and </div>.

That's how I have been trying it in php, but for some reason it won't perform. So the next step, I thought, would be to include the tags in the database.

Yours will work well as a query, thanks very much. But how to update it into the table, please ...?

of course you can do it

SQL is pretty powerful

there's a lot more to SQL than the simple select * from mytable queries which most people use

You are absolutely right. I work mostly with access, but coming over to mysql and php is like arriving in a land of miracles. And the support here on the forum is astonishing (particularly in a world gone mad with what the euphemists term free enterprise.)

It's a mystery why you do it, and a thankfully a small band does, but far better not to make a million in every year and to have helped your fellow humans than to have made more than the million by trampling over everyone to get there.
