I just started studying for my CCNA certification. I have a Catalyst switch 1900 series that I am playing with. I was trying to configure a password on it and I set up the Tacacs+ authentication by mistake on the config line mode. Now I cannot log in to the console port when ever I turn on the switch. I am getting the following message when I use the Hypper Terminal:

1 user(s) now active on Management Console.

[K] Command Line

Enter Selection: K
No Tacacs+ servers have been configured.
Press any key to continue.
Can anyone help me please?

lukad2000,

Just for your information - the Cisco CAT 1900 switches are no longer tested on the CCNA exam - get yourself a 2950 switch on Ebay or at the very least a Cisco 29xxXL-EN switch.

Read this blog by Wendell Odom on setting up a CCNA lab -

As for your problem follow this link to Cisco for Password Recovery Procedure for the Cisco Catalyst 1700, 1900, 2100, 2800, and 2820-
It should work the same or least lead you where you want to go!!

Hope this helps!

I thank you very much CiscoGuy33.
I followed the instructions for the Password Recovery Procedure for the Cisco Catalyst 1900 on the Cisco link that you referred me to and evrything works fine now.

Also I just went to E-Bay and I bought the 2924XL-EN switch for the CCNA lab.

Thank you again for your help.

Lukad,
You really will eventually want some 2950 switches! I bought 4x 2924XL-EN when I started my CCNA and by the end I owned three 2950 switches. The 2924 provides a good learning experience though and you can not beat the price!

Good luck with your CCNA exploration! This forum helped me tremendously to earn mine!

Especially CiscoG, Lerdalt, Burt and a few others!
