Tabs in EditBox vs. Report

Is there anyway short of using a monospaced font to make sure the text in an editbox looks the same as it does on a report? I am using an 11 pt Arial font in the editbox and the report and the two don't always look the same. I'm guessing this might have more to do with the OS and the printer driver than VFP.

Whats the default font for your report? Is it the same as your editbox? if not either change the default font by opening the report report->Default Fonts or your editbox font...

The report default was Courier. I changed it to Arial 11. The editbox and the report control are still Arial 11, but they still don't always match.

In vfp9 &8 when you right click the controls in the report then click properties, then tab style, what is the font?
If it is Ariel 11... Then I am stumped. Sorry.
Maybe its the printer... Guessing now

Yep, all three are Arial 11. I have also cleaned rhe report of any printer specific info. I'm Still researching, will post back if I find anything.

Something like this.
In edit box:

This is a test     100.00
Pay this           200.00
                  -------
Total              300.00

On report:

This is a test     100.00
Pay this           200.00
                  -------
Total                 300.00

It looks like the report interprets the Tabs differently.

You have most likely already done this, but it doesn't hurt to ask...

Is the Text Font Alignment the same for the Total value as it is for the item values? From your example above it almost looks as though they are different.

And is the value Type the same in both locations? If one should be a character and the other a numeric that also could appear as shown.

The entire text is coming from a memo field.

I agree. That's the most likely explanation. Sorry I don't know the solution, except that it's probably got nothing to do with the choice of fonts.

Thanks Mike, I'll play around a bit to see if I can come up with anything. It's not a big deal for this project as this type of thing only happens a few times a month.
