Hello there all.
An odd one here.
i have an excel sheet, that when opened, does not dispay the sheet names or the restore, minimise and close buttons.

if i set the ribbon to minimised then the sheet name tabs appear, but the buttons remain hidden, and altho the sheet appears to be maximised, there is about 1/5th empty space showing underneath the selected worksheet.

it appears as if excel is maximising the window outside of the existing excel window, thereby hiding the controls and sheet tabs from view

this seems to be worksheet specific, as new worksheets created are not affected.

one other aspect is that the title bar of excel does not contain the sheet name, it is only "Microsoft Excel".

any clue as to what is going on here and how to sort it out please?

regards and thanks in advance.

Mikel

... and altho the sheet appears to be maximised ...

Are you sure that the sheet is actually maximised?

Cheers, Glenn.

ok, i apologise in advance. i was busy writing a scathing response "of course it is" so i thought id go check it first. it seems that it is not maximised, but there is no window bar at the top. the window top seems tied to the section under the ribbon. i say under the ribbon because i have hidden the formula bar, in an attempt to get to the window control bar.

it now looks like the window has been moved up far enough to hide the window control bar, or this has been switched off somehow.

testing on another sheet, i am unable to move it so far up that i am unable to move it down again.

odd!

is there perhaps some keyboard shortcut that could have switched off the window control bar (by which i mean the one that appears when windows are restored down and contain the sheet name, and control buttons)??

Additional info
if i open a new sheet, i can select view side by side from the view menu to show the sheets well, side by side, and the window control bar appears (is that officially the window Title Bar??).
however as soon as this other sheet is closed, the window redocks at the top of the excel viewable area.
