I have 4 tables that i want the record count from.
only the record count not all the records.
When I tried this the first time all i got was the count for the first table I added, the rest were 0, which is not correct. Count ({anytable.anyfield}) is the formula I was using. I am also getting an error telling me that the tables cannot be linked. I'm thinking, what difference does it make wheather they are linked or not. If I want a record count from any table from any field i should be able to get it, Correct? Or do I need a different reporting tool? This should not be this difficult. Should I try a different form instead of a standard form? Oh one more thing I am using CR5,and still works for our purposes. Would 8.5 or 9 work better?

CR 9 would work better because you can use REAL SQL, hence you could generate SQL to return these 4 different counts.

Crystal bases a report on EACH set of rows, not on multiple rowsets.

What you're asking is probably most simply done WITHIN CR as a main report and 3 subreports, as it IS 4 different record sets being counted.

If you have SQL skills and access to the database, I'd do the counts in a view or SP and let CR get the data from the one data source.
