I guess never, because 2GB is a limitation of the integer number used to perform seek functionality over the file on the low level. When moving to larger number, it will require major reqorking of the basics...

Call me ornery, but there may also be a marketing reason for leaving the max table size at 2Gb. But, to give them the benefit of the doubt, and the confirm Vlad's assessment, MSDE also shares the 2Gb (database) size limit. Robert Bradley
