Table problem rounding numbers up

I have a table and one of the fields is VAT rate but access keeps rounding the number up,

if i put in 17.5 access makes it 1750.00 or 1800

Looked everywhere to solve this

In your field definition you probably have the format defined as "Percent". With the percent format the display value of the number is 100 * (value entered). Thus 17.5% is actually entered as 0.175.
