I am working on a report and I have page numbers in this format:

"- 1 -"

Now I want to do the table of contents but I do not wish to include the "-". What is the solution.

P.S. I have tried even to change the page numbering format without the dashes, but in the table of contents oddly enough they are still showing with the "-".

Your early reply would be appreciated

If you are creating the table of contents automatically based on default styles...to get rid of the - 1 - dashes. do this
Remove the formatting from the page number
then
Insert/references/indexes and tables/toc (it will prompt you to replace the current toc)
the - - will go away.

Hi,
What version are you working in? I tried this in 2003 and the dashes do not show up in the TOC.

Best,
