My colleague tried to import a text file to table Address.
The wizard showed ADDRESS, assumed it was a new table, and greyed the other choices. When she changed the name in the wizard, the import worked.

Later on, we tested creating two tables, one named Address and the second name ADDRESS, but sql server wouldn't allowing it, treating them as dupes.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Thanks,
Mark

Yes. Your collation is set for Case Insensitive. To have SQL Server reconigise Address and ADDRESS as two seperate tables you would need to change the collation to a case sensitive collation type.

This has other implications, so be carefull before making the change.

By default SQL Server will use a Case Insensitive collation type.
