table locking

hi there,

can anyone tell me what happens if:

1) a remote mysql client locks a table in a database
2) the remote client dies/connection dies etc.

does mysql have a timeout or does it remain locked until admin intervention.

as the mysql documentation says:

"All tables that are locked by the current thread are automatically unlocked when the thread issues another LOCK TABLES, or when the connection to the server is closed"
