I have a table that I need to use that has no fields that can link to the rest of the tables I am using. I need to use this table for a validation check within one of my formulas. When I add but not link the table through the visual linking window it tells me that "this method is not supported" then it allows me to continue. However, when I go back into the visual linking window crystal automatically trys to link the table. So my question is how can use this table without linking it to any of my other tables. And is there a way to stop crystal from automatically trying to link the table. I do realize that if I was just using SQL scripts this would be easy however I don't know how to get around Crystal's coding rules.

If your backend is Oracle or SQL Server, why don't you simply create a view and use that for your report???

That is a great idea. So simple that I should have thought about it myself. Thank you.

As an added note, you can shut of the "Smart Linking" under File Options, but you would need to link the table to use it in the report (or add it in using a subreport). Ken Hamady, On-site/Phone Crystal Reports Training/Consulting
