I have a table which has a column named paidtorcvdfrom. Now I want to divide this column into 2: "paidto" and "rcvdfrom". I tried using the Select case left(table,5) but didn't work.

You need to provide sample records from this column that show the various ways the field might appear. It would also help if you explained a little more about what you were trying to do.

Furthermore, you do not divide columns ( fields) by name; you parse the data in that field and, based on what you specify, populate 2 additional fields with the appropriate
data.
