I'm hoping that someone can help and this is not just a "feature" of RS. I have a report that is rendered as follows:

table matrix matrix

All looks ok when developing and the top of each is lined up. However, when the report is uploaded, the middle matrix is lower than the other 2 and the matrix on the right is lower than the table but higher than the other matrix. None of them overlap so I am now at a loss as to how to align them.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

bet they do overlap - probably by about 0.0000001 cm

If they really don't overlap, try hosting each in a rectangle - this seems to help with rendering issues..

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Thanks Geoff,

Just tried hosting in rectangles and moving them so they are further apart. Still no joy

hmmmm - maybe a page width issue?

Is the width of the combined tables greater than the width of the report? (in the report properties under the page layout options)

Other options to look at is whether there is any cell padding and where any border formatting is - I have seen issues where on 1 table, there is a thick border under the header row and another table where there is a thick border above the 1st row in the table - this seems to cause RS to render each slightly differently even though there should be no real difference....

Ok, this is width of each item

table = 19.82936cm
matrix1 = 3.5cm
matrix2 = 8cm
Total = 31.32936

My report width was set to 29.7cm. As each of the matrix can change in width, what would I need to change this to?

the number of dps on the 1st table makes me think it could be overlapping with something else.... what is the LEFT property of matrix1? or the rectangle it is contained in. Is there any reason it is set to 19.82936cm rather than 19.8 or even 20cm?

For now though, I would set the page width to 32 just to test whether it makes any difference to the renderer

Does it make a difference when you print vs view on screen?
I've learned to never trust what I see on screen since the majority of my reports are exported to pdf and they can look 'funky' when previewed on screen. Also make sure that your margins are set correct and that the report properties both interactive size and page size match.

Sorted it. The middle matrix didn't have a Static Group whereas the one ont he right did. This matrix was therefore smaller in height than botht the table and the 2nd matrix. Having added in a Static Group, it now aligns fine.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Thanks for the update Adam - always good to have a solution to a thread
