Is there a way in DB2 to access table data in another database? This can be done in MS-SQL server using the syntax database.schema.tablename.

Thanks

evgeniosc,

db2 also supports three part naming. You may also wish to Investigate a part of db2 known as Federation.

Cheers
Greg

the three part naming is not directly supported on unix/windows.
you need to create federated objects: one for each other server an then a wrapper for each table. user ids can be mapped here as well.
then you access the remote table using schema.table

Between DB2 databases federation ist is included in ESE, for other databases you need Information Integrator, there is a special edition for relational connect.

Unfortunately federation is supported in enterprise edition of DB2 but we have workgroup version

evgeniosc,

sorry if I misled you, I use DB2 on z/os and AIX and the products we have are such that I can use the appropriate method depending on the box I'm on.

Cheers
Greg

Working with Workgroup edition myself, I usually use MS Access as an intermediate stage. By using linked tables you can quite often reach desired effects.
It is a bit of a workaround, though...
