I am using html 4.0 and need to be able to get horzontal stops between words as (tab stops).
Using non-breaking spaces are tedious. Is there some way that I can use the tab to jump to a specific horizontal position? or use some format to allow me have horizontal stops?

Tab stops are not really part of HTML. You will have to use either a table, or CSS positioning, or lots of non-breaking spaces.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Although interestingly enough, this page did come up in a Google search for "tabs html":

I've not seen any reference to the "tab" element in HTML4, or XHTML, and I can't find it in the HTML3.2 specs, so maybe it was dropped?

Incidentally, you might want to take a read of this page,. which has a lot of links to CSS-based tab solutions:

Again, this was found on the same Google search.

Hope this helps,
Dan
