Can you set a tab index/sequence in crystal? If so how?

Could you also prevent some fields from getting focus when the user tabs through the report?

Have you looked at Drill-Down? This allows the report to be shown as a summary, with extra details shown when you click on a value.

What is the connection between using the tab key to tab through the report and drilldowns?

I assumed you wanted details from summaries. Drill-down does that.

If it's something else, please explain.

Some users wish to use the tab key to 'jump' from one report field to another when they have the report open in infoview. Whatever the reason, I was asked to realize this.

So, if you got a report and put 5 fields behind each other in say the details section they wish to click field 1 and then use their tab key on their keyboard to go to field 2, 3 etc.

So details section looks like:
{field 1} {field 2} {field 3} {field 4} {field 5}

Hope this makes it clear?

PS They also asked to be able to skip a field, say jump from field 2 to field 4 skipping field 3
