Actually you can't. A tab is a control that acts like a container of controls. It really has nothing to do with the record source of the form.
If you wish to display records from another database on a tab, then you will need to...
1. link the table to the current database.
2. create a subform from the linked table.
3. then put the subform on the tab control.
