Situation 1
===========
Form with tab control and some fields on the control.
If form is in "design", and then opened, you can make updates in the fields,
move to next record - no problem - and this is what is required.

Situation 2
===========
If form is opened directly (i.e. not first having opened it in "design" mode), access 2000
"hangs" after you make update to any record on any tab, and then try to move to next record.

I am presuming this must be a bug, because I cannot see why the 2 situations should be different.

Any solutions would be very much appreciated!

Possible database corruption? I would try compact/repair and if that doesn't work, then I would create a new blank database and import all objects from your DB and see if the problem still occurs in the new DB.

Hi Eupher

Good idea -
I imported the form plus relevant tables and queries into a completely new db - and the problem happens again...

Other ideas?
Thanks.

Along lines of importing the problem form plus relevant tables/queries into a new DB, I decided to build form again from scratch, combining contents of original forms onto a new TAB control from the original spearate forms...

In doing this I realised I had an unqualified subform (i.e. values in subform not controlled by value in main form).

Once this was corrected, the problem disappeared!

(Ps: Still do not know why the problem did not appear when form was opened from "design" mode ... but not important as main issue now resolved ... that perhaps is the MS bug.)

Many thanks for helpful discussion.
