ONE OF OUR PHONES WAS LIT WITH A MESSAGE WAITING LIGHT BUT THE LIGHT WAS GREEN. HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS BEFORE AND WHY GREEN AND NOT RED.

That's one of the new Starboard phones. It goes on the right hand side of the desk as you sit behind it. All older T7316s are, by default, Port hand phones and must be situated on the other side of the desk. NOTE: Each phone must be placed so that their respective LEDs meet in the middle front of the desk and have an 80deg sight field from the sides.
This new system has been developed by Nortel to provide direction for its upper management. The concept has caught on in the market place and may find further application with other large corporations where boards of directors seem to have trouble finding their way.

Wow, I thought the light was green for a standard message, but would go to red if the message was marked URGENT, or flash Amber if the message was PRIVATE, but Arr's Starboard phone makes more sense.
