I have a customer who is complaining that they have intermittent echo when on speakerphone on their 7316. The person they are talking to are the ones that hear the echo. Once he picks up the handset, all is clear. I've swapped phones and ports on the system, but to no avail. Are there any other troubleshooting steps I can take to try and resolve this?

Does it work ok in a different room?

Are you thinking it could be the placement of the phone? I thought that as well. I'll have them try.

If you've changed the phone and port, then it is an environment issue. Norstar phones do not have very good speaker phones.

Allworx guy, I tried explaining that the Nortel speakerphones arent' the best, but they insist that up until recently, it has worked well. I'm thinking it worked fine when using it here and there, but trying to use it on a regular basis isn't the best idea. I've tried telling them they should invest in an actual conference speakerphone if they use it that often, but they don't want to pay for it.

If your software is high enough try the 7316E they seem to work better.

Have you heard this yourself?

Dont confuse "echo" with "hollow" like others do at times.

Echo sounds like repeating of words (like reverb) - usually something interfering
Hollow is like a large empty room with no carpet, no nothing - install carpet and hang pictures....lol

When did it start? after a move? after replacing the phone for something else not working? just started to happen after all these years?
