you will need to be careful even if you change the BCM 50 region. If your phones are from Europe and you are outside Europe you will have a problem with the mu-law A-law standards
You said something here that tweaked my interest. I intend on shipping and installing a BCM 1000 over in Germany. Shouldn't be a problem from what I gather you just configure according to region. What's with the telephone set situation? Is not a 7100 a 7100 and a 7316E a 7316E or is there some other criteria that I'm not aware of? I was intending on using the Digital Trunk Module that I use over here with PRI & T1 lines and 32 Station Modules?
you have two standards one for Europe and one for the US. There are encoding standards. I use to work with Toshiba handsets and you could handsets from the US. The problem was they where not in the correct encoding standard. It meant when you where talking you sounded like a robot.I have never used any US phones on a UK BCM so I am not sure if that encoding problem is about on the BCM product. At a guess I would say it is not but I am not 100%. I can also say all the phones that are shipped to the UK are made in Mexico. But it would not surprise me if it was around on th Nortel products to prevent you from shipping worldwide.
