If you have T568B patch panels, are there any compatibility issues with more current standards than IEEE 802.3u? Is there a more current standard that would preclude the use of these T568B patch panels? Any thoughts or concerns???

no matter where you go, there you are.

Not for twisted pair.
T568B is only a termination scheme, not a standard.
Either T568A or T568B are valid terminations for twisted pair by the TIA/EIA 568B standard.

Well, that was my understanding. There is a cntractor that seems to have a question regarding our stipulation of using 568B for a prospective job. His message said that there was a newer standard that he wants to discuss. I am a bit confused what there is to discuss regarding the termination scheme of the wiring. I have a conference call set later this morning. I suppose I will find out then. Thank you for the validation.

There are peopele who only want to work with 568A.
If you find that is the case, you may want to tell him that
your current structure is all 568B and you want to stay with that to avoid confusion and it will meet the current standards.

Are we talking TIA 568-B (standard) ot T568B (termination scheme)?
There is a difference as I stated earlier.

As for terminating twisted pair T568A is the standard and T568B is an option if required by specific equipment.

There is no newer ANSI TIA/EIA standard than the 568-B series of standards.

Well, just to be disagreeable, they are working on TIA 568-C which I think is supposed to be out next year sometime (I may be off on the timing). Could that be the 'newer' standard? If I remember correctly, I don't think there where going to be any changes to the basics.
Anyway, just thought I toss that one out there.
