I am trying to find information on how to help us make a decision on what type of internet connection our company should use. We currently have a DSL with 1.5/768, it seems to be doing its job.
About 9 months ago, we moved our web-site and e-mail in house. We also rely on the internet for day to day work. I would say that we probably have about 60 end users and 30 of them us the internet faily heavily.
We have been having problems with our connection and our ISP is telling us that it is do to having a residental DSL modem. I am wondering if we are throwing too much at the DSL.
We will in the next 6 months be moving another connection to the internet that is currently on a dedicated frame relay.
I would say that our internet if critial.
I am not really looking forward to changing our IP address again, but if I am going to do it, I would like to try and get a LONG term solution in place.
My question is, how can I determine if we should stay with DSL and look at getting a business DSL modem, or make the jump to a T1.
I do know the costs are quite different, but I would like to have reliability and speed, in that order.
Any direction or in-site would be greatly appriciated.
I am sure there is no set rule, but maybe even a rule of thumb as to when to make the leap to a T1.
Cable is not an option in the area we are currently in, so it appears to be a T1, DSL or wireless.
Thanks in advance.
