Hey all! It has been a while since I provisioned a PRI.
Here is the deal:
Legend R7 currently with 3 T1's with 54 centrex lines config. System is Hybrid with 2 digit extensions. There are about 7 digital stations for admin. The console rings on 3 inbound centrex numbers. One centrex is the fax on analog port. All other phones do not have inbound. They all access outbound trunks with a 9 from pool 70. This is a small call center doing outbound customer service calls. About 50 analog extensions.

Converting to 2 PRI's fully loaded. DID numbers are 983-4850 to 4869 and 6667(Primary number only DID that needs to ring for voice) and 6894 (fax).

I want to do this simple as possible! I know how to do the settings to get the PRI up for the most part.(Have the 12 step cheat sheet and have used a couple times in the past.) I am not clear on how to get the 2 numbers ringing in the right places for main number and fax. Do I need to change the dial plan to 4 digits and number the console 6667 and the fax 6894? Then how do I get the incoming calls to ring simultaneously at a cover station.

I know these questions make me sound like a newbie, but have not done any real programming for a couple of years!

Thanks for the help in advance!

If the 2 digit dial plan must stay, have Telco port the two Centrex numbers to the Pri, and have themmatch the digits to the appropriate stations.

Can you explain what you mean by port the 2 centrex numbers? Also, the 6667 number had a few centrex lines it rolled to. How would I do this if changing to a 3 digit dial plan. Would that wipe everything out? I could not find how to change it from 2 to 3 last night?
Thanks!

When a number is ported to a T-1, usually, it goes with digits, usually the last digits of the ported number, not always, but usually. If they outpulse 2 digits, for your 2 digit dialplan, then, the 6667 number would go to ext 67, whatever that might be. With 2 digit dialing, you are obviously limited to how many different numbers in your system, but if this is enough, then fine. You don't need to worry about any hunting that may have occurred with the centrex, as the T-1's are dynamic. If the 67 number comes in on channel 1, the next can come in on channel 2, or 16, or whatever is available. You only need to port the 2 centrex numbers that people "know to dial".

Will this conflict with the DID string assigned? Because there is a number in that string that ends in 67 also. And do I need to renumber station 10 to 67 if that is where I want it to ring? Same with fax? If it is station 52 renumber to 94? My main need is accessing outbound for the call center. I only need the 2 numbers to ring inbound at this time. Are PRI channels assigned to pools like the T1 trunks were?
How do I switch to a 3 digit dial plan?

Okay I got the 2 PRI's up. I can not place an outbound call. Before I had all the channels of the T1 in a pool for outgoing. Shouldn't the PRI's act the same? Also should the DID's ring at the main console even if extension numbering does not match?

Do you have PRI "licensing" on the Definity?

Pepperz@charter.net

I am not sure what you mean by "licensing".

I have provisioned PRI on the Definity in the past. Definity is easier to program the more complicated services. things are not buried in the layers of menus like the Legend is.

Definity switches do not automatically have ISDN PRI option enabled. To enable it your customer must pay for it. If it is not enabled, that is the problem if you switch from T-1 to PRI.

Right "O"!! Yes, you have to pay for almost everything on the Definity. All options are loaded with the current software you are running, but they have to turn them on in the customer options fields.

I was converting a Legend with T1 to PRI. Any thoughts to my problem of why I could not get outbound calls to process? Inbound routing and ringing went fine. I have my info on the other post about Desperate, no outbound calls on PRI.

Thanks!
