What is the Standard specs. for a T1 Tie Trunk connection. Please include the type of cable, the correct pinouts and any critical information. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. But it needs to be a rj48 at each end.

Snapper. Are you after the pinout from your westel or T-1 smartjack to your CSU/DSU?

Mikey

Snapper. I usually use a 2 pair shielded cable to make mine. The pins are 1,2, 4,5 on the RJ-45 plugs. The order is 1. white/blue 2. blue/white 4.white/orange 5.orange/white. This should work for you.

Mikey

What about the other end? Should it not be a cross over or straight trough? What would be the cross over format?

Snapper I beleive it is straight through, but it has been a while since I have done one.

Mikey

Does it have to go through a smart jack or can it just plug in direcly to my fax server?

The T-1 will have to go into a CSU/DSU at some point. Then come into your equipment unless your equipment has a built in CSU/DSU like the new Cisco routers.

Mikey

No, if you are going directly into a csu/dsu it needs to be pinned out as ealrier stated. (1245) Does NOT cross over. By the questions answered, I am assuming that you are extending the circuit from the Smart-Jack? If this is the cae you can either put a mod end on the far side or you could put an rj31x. If the rj31x has nothing pluged into it, this will shrt the jack and send loop back to the LEC. (nice for testing purposes.)

I'm plugging in direct. I was given a 356a adapter. No CSU. What are the pinouts? Will this work? Here is a diagram.
