Installed a 100DCD in a magix, have it config'd for T1/esf/b8zs/loop time and all grd start, when connected to T1 all alarms clear, CLEC's switch also clears, have all trunks labeled T1-T24, when dialing 9 and number can see it pick one of the T 1-24 but it goes nowhere, and working with CLEC they say their trks go into maint busy after turn up, as always they say theirs is provisioned correctly, Did I miss something on my end.
thanks for any ideas

Under Maintenance, for the SLOT the T1 is in, look at ERROR EVENTS.

Also, clear all errors under Maintenance/System/Error Logs - both Permanent & Transient.

Then, if you are still having trouble, print and post the ERROR LOG from the PRINT Menu.

USUALLY the T-1 is set up as all tie trunks, not always, but usually. Are you using DID service?

Merlinman, I will be going back to the site on Monday and will look at errors and post,

Pepperz, No DID's , ground start combo trunks

Get CLEC onsite with a T-bird, or similar test equipment, and make them prove that it works as ground start trunks. If they can or cannot, it tells the story.

You mentioned in your post that the trunks are combo. Are you getting incoming traffic on them? What do you get when you call the pilot number? Also verify your DS1 parameters match the CLEC's parameters.

Syquest,
No incoming, get fast busy on trying to call in, assume that's because their trunk group is busied out, when they try to turn up the trunks, they go into maintaince busy, they show an error of HW (high and wet)
I have set mine for 24 trunks all grd start, ESF/B8ZS/robbed bit and primary timing on my slot 4 (dcd card in slot 4)and loop timing, CSU to foregn exchange.
They claim their also set for b8zs/esf and 24 grd start trunks, and it appears to have line condition right as both the Magix DCD and their switch goes normal when connected, just that theirs keeps going miantance busy when they try to turn up the trunks!

It looks like the CLEC has the translations in their switch all messed up. Any idea what kind of switch they are using? (5ESS, DMS100, DMS500). Because with a Ground-start configuration that will only come from the LINE side of the switch, which means in most cases it will be analog LINE to channel bank (digital) to get the trunks (LINE side) on to the DS1 to the Magix.

Is there a reason why you ordered the trunks as Ground-start as opposed to PRI ISDN or E/M, since service is being delivered on DS1?

In rereading your posts, I get the feeling that something is very odd here. You mention that the CLEC tried to turn up the "trunks" and they go to maintenance busy. That description only applies to the TRUNK side of the switch. The LINE side of a CO switch does NOT have trunk groups, and the term "high and wet" usually applies to E/M trunks.

Did the CLEC try to access just one channel on the DS1 to test?

Who is the CLEC?

It's a 5ESS, and it's coming out of their switch as a DS one, they don't use any d4 banks on the CO side.
I didn't order the service, the customer did themselves, I have a meet set up for tomorrow with the CLEC, their willing to work with me to get this in service.
Can't use DID's, do you think E&M would be better ???
Thanks for the input!!

Since the customer did the ordering you need to find out just what was ordered. Copies of emails or order comfirmations to/from the CLEC would be a good start.

My best guess is the CLEC has provisioned a SUPERTRUNK™ type service offering, since that arrangement comes out of the switch on a DS1 and the trunks are E/M signalling only. Also you say that no DID numbers have been ordered. But for inward calls to work on E/M, there would have to be at least one DID number assigned to the service (pilot number), and that works by seizing a trunk and sending digits to the Magix. --See DID or E/M trunks do NOT have any ringing voltage for signalling, that is not how they work. The trunks would use DTMF, MF or Dial Pulse to communicate network addressing between the CO and the Magix and the reverse.

So just to prepare you a little, if that is the case, you can configure the trunks on the DS1 in the Magix as all TIE, and most likely WINK-START in both directions. For inward find out what digits they will be sending, etc.

If you don't have any Legend/Magix documentation, you can download to your hearts content @ support.avaya.com that way you can stay on top of any other 'gotchas.'
