Hi There:

I'm installing a T1 Card in my Partner. The phone company needs to know what configuration they need to set up (exp. NI2, send 4 digits, etc.) I know what's needed for notel, but would love some help with Avaya Partner.

Thanks!

No PRI for the partner. It has to be a regular T1

Phone company says it needs to be a PRI inorder to set up and break down calls, and have caller ID... I'm confused.. HELP!

Both are correct. Teloc needs PRI for caller ID, and the partner does not support PRI. If you have to have caller ID on your lines then you will need to replace the phone system or stay with straight analog lines to your Partner.

As has been said above, the Partner ACS does not support ISDN. It will support T1E&M wink.

If you want ISDN service and continue using Avaya equipment, your choices are the Merlin Magix or IP Office.

The other option is to tell the telco to put in a channel bank to break out the lines to analog for you prior to the Partner

ACA - Implement IP Office
ACS - Implement IP Office

--->You can't put PRI on a channel bank! Who is going to talk to the DCH?? There are NO channel units that support that type of configuration.

Another interesting question: would the Partner support CID on loop-start channels from a DS1?

That would be one way to get the feature if the Partner supported it and Telco would do it on the CO end.

Syquest,
i dont think you can set the Partner to Loop start on the T1 card. I dont remember seeing that as an option. It has been a while so anything is possible.

FYI - Adtran makes a box that will do PRI in, analog loop-start out. Upgrading phone system would probably be lower cost... Partner will NOT support caller ID on direct T1 - your only solution to retain CID is have telco install channel bank and present lines as analog to Partner. And then may lose other desired featues like DID...

I didn't think it would support CID that way, but you never know. Stranger things have happened!

Thanks, mforrence for the FYI about Adtran. I need to get a new catalogue from them. In a way that kind of defeats the whole purpose of PRI, and the service would not be cheaper adding the cost of a CB like that. I will check that one out.
