My customer has a Legend R7 with 2 T1 boards. Customer is complaining of dropped calls so I checked each boards error logs and found that both boards have errors. Both boards have consistant errors previous hour and current hour every time I check. Errors are approx. MIS-18 SLP-19 ES-2 BS-1 I performed the CSU-Lpbk test and every channel had errors on both boards. I plugged a loopback plug into 100D board and both boards passed no errors. With that information I bypassed the CSU on one board to see if errors cleared but still have the same errors/dropped calls. The first thing I did before any of this was intrusive test with Telco and they say clear tests to CSU.

Any ideas? 100D boards? Backplane? CPU?

Once again Telco drops the ball on you to prove their trouble. If it is telco, then you would get a blue alarm
code, both T1 cards can't be bad at the same time. Your error log should tell you what kind of alarm you have....
How consistant is the dropped calls problem? inbound or
outbound?

You could also have bad or intermittent wiring to the NIU. Check all for good solid connections. Most NIUs have LED indicators. You might take a look-see and notice if anything of significance is lit and the LED color.

Did telco test both DS1s to your CSUs?

You might post a copy of the alarms here, so we can all review them.

I'll visit the site and check the NIU wiring, and NIU LED's today. The end user experience is: lift handset, dial 9, start dialing a phone number and notice that your phone has gone back to an idle state.

one way to test T1 trks is program a 28b set with all the
trks on them...you can see what trks are accessed and how
long they stay seized. You will have to put some time into
this problem...also how are the T1 cards setup...1 for inbound and the other for outbound...this will also will
tell you which is the culprit.

It's also important for us to know if one of those T1s are being used as the network link to another Legend or Magix.

Where are you getting your primary clocking/synchronization from?
