I have two networked legends with a CO provided point to point T1 between them. They happen to be across the street from each other and we recently had Fiber trenched in. I would like to eliminate the co provided T1. I essencially have raw fiber (no ends yet) and am wondering what type of gear is needed to pull this off? I have not worked with fiber before, but am comfortable with networking legends.
Thanks

We just did this with two RAD FOM-E1/T1 fiber optic to T1 "modems".

No setup at all. Uses two strands of fiber, transmit from one to receive of the other, and vice/versa. Comes out on a DB-15 on the back panel, and just made up an adapter to change it to an 8-pin modular, then plug directly into the INA board.

Do they have any plans to make a fiber card for the Merlin as they have for the Definity? I realize this is for a legend, but I'm talking about the current Magix release.

Havent heard of anything in the pipeline, but that doesn't mean anything.

On a Definity, does a fiber card connect directly to the PSTN, or is it designed to connect to another switch?

It's designed to connect remote cabinets. I've never seen a telco drop fiber straight to a customer without using lightspan or some other type of pairgain application. I was under the impression that the only time fiber can be used without channel banks of some sort was for a switch to switch connection of the same model.
