Ok..got lots of equipment to start learning a little more with. Fairly nice setup, but still a little incomplete. Cisco 1604R Router, Livingston Portmaster w/48 56k modems, Prelude T1 DSU/CSU, and 4 various hubs. So here is my question. I guess to start playing and configuring some of this stuff I have to first figure out how to access them, mainly hardware related. I've read in my manual for the Prelude about hooking the COM port (DB9 female) to a "terminal". Thats brings me to my question. Can I use my PC as a "terminal"? Like, could I just run a serial cable from one COM port to the other? And, if so...does this require special software? I'm running Win XP Home, and I like the fact that just about everything I hook up, XP recognizes it and usually takes care of everything automatically, but I'm not sure if it will with this or not.
