I have an existing Merlin Legend that I upgraded to a Magix and I purchased a Merlin Messaging card as well as a 100D module. I have never installed a 100D or configured DID but I have the messaging card working great. My circuit from AT&T is ESF/B8ZS WINK on channels 1-12 (my data is on the other channels). AT&T has left me with an IAD that gives me voice on one side and data on the other (my data is working great) When I plug a RJ45 cord from the IAD voice port to the 100D (by the way this is how it was working with my older NEC but I never configured it - it had the cord from the IAD to the T1 Port on the phone system) do I have to configure any channel information? I have (4) pots lines in the system now 801-804 so I assume that I need to put 805-816 in a pool to use? Lastly, AT&T has given me (3) DID numbers over this circuit but I am using 2 digit dial plan. I need (2) of the DID nubmers to go directly to Merlin Messaging without going to operator but how do I do this since the DID will not be used to route to a specific extension (I don't want the DID for routing - just go to the VM). The 3rd DID will be used to go directly to specific extension (the DID number is 233-1555 and I want it to ring on extension 24 and if 24 does not answer it will go to extension 24 mailbox). Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. The DID information in the manual is not very helpful.

Well, you have a lot of things you are asking that are going to generate even more questions.

First, this T1 you are getting from AT&T.... is it set for D-I-D or E&M Tie Lines?

If they touted it as "2 Way D-I-D" you can BET YOUR BIPPIE that they are providing E&M Tie Lines.

In which case, what they send you in the way of digits, is what you will have to program your LEGEND to accept.

So, find out the answer to the above and we can start from there.

This is the information that I have from the original cut sheet so I believe it is E&M as you will see below. Thank you for your help!!

**CRITICAL INFORMATION**

Verification of equipment capability for call by call has been received prior to ordering of service. Equipment must be capable of providing Network Specific Facility indicators on all outbound calls in a call by call arrangement. Your signature on the Vendor Questionnaire form indicated equipment capability.

T1 Configuration: AT&T only provides 4W E&M. AT&T does not provide loop or ground start, and conversion must be done at the customer's premise.

Inside wire is the responsibility of the customer. AT&T can only deliver to the T1 connection at the Minimum Point of Entry in your building (MPOE).

AT&T does not provide a CSU or MUX. It is the customer's responsibility to obtain any equipment necessary to the installation and turn up of services.

PBX programming: The "1" for long distance must be stripped before sending outbound calls over the T1. Toll free numbers (8YY #'s) should not be sent to the T1 unless specifically provisioned for this service. X11 calls (411, 911…) or any Operator Assisted calls should be directed to the Local Exchange Carrier lines. For Outbound International calls "011" plus the country code followed by the phone number should be sent to the 4ESS.

I can't answer all the issues in your post, but, if you know the 3 digit DID number that AT&T is sending you that you want sent to the auto attendant, here's what you do:

Renumber an adjunct to match the DID number. Put the adjunct in the voice mail coverage group. In the Merlin Messaging, make a mailbox with the same number as the DID, but select option 3 to assign it to an auto attendant, and choose which auto attendant you want to answer.

You may need to set the maximum extension length in the Merlin Messaging to 3 digits, instead of 2, which will also cause transfers to 2 digit extensions to take a little longer (while it is waiting for the 3rd digit)

You may want to change to 3 digit extension numbers, which doesn't have to be too traumatic for your users. Just pick a plan that puts the same digit in front of each extension number (like if you were Ext. 10, now you'll be Ext. 110, etc.)
