How does one go about in setting up auto attendant usage on t1 lines designed as did ckts. Customer wants all their calls to be answered by AA first.
Equip:
Partner R7
Partner Messaging
308 Mod.

Been a while for the software, but it would either be point the DID to group 770. Or point it to the extensions in group 770.

Map the DID to a phantom extension that is assigned to the auto attendant.

Doesn't the automated attendant answering all of the Direct Inward Dial Trunks defeat the purpose of DID trunks.

They should give out the main number to people and only give out their DIDs to family and friends so they can bypass the auto attendant

Well, yeah, but it depends on how the service is set up.

When you migrate from copper to a T1, a lot of carriers will send the last 4 digits of the number called as DNIS, which is handled as if it were a DID. The customer may not even have a block of DID numbers as part of the package. So if they want the AA to answer the main number, you've go to direct the DNIS digits to the AA.
