I have this scenario where I need to connect the SV9500 to another system that has an E1 interface and another that has a T1 interface. While programming the UG50, I found that it has a common setting for PRT cards: either T1 or E1, but all PRT cards have this in common. Is it really that way? Can I not program one PRT card as T1 and another as E1?

As far as I know, an E1 has a few more channels. The set up is the same as a PRI. I would set them up as T-1's, or 23+1 PRI's. Busy out the remaining channels. Make sure they are the same aLaw or uLaw.

To have two PRT cards on a UG-50 you must use SIP mode, this means if UG-50 PRI is set up already and you want to add the 2nd it has to be deleted and reprogrammed, on the card config menu select the PRT card and delete,in PRT basic setup check the SIP mode box and reset the UG-50, you must also go into the 9500 and change programming.

Ok good. I have the UG50 in SIP mode since the beginning, so fortunately I don't have to mess with that too much. I managed to get the T1 card changed to E1 on the system I'm connecting the UG50 to, so now both span can be programmed as E1.
