We are in the process of intalling NICE recording at the trunk side. Does anyone have specific instructions on how the E1 and T1 coupler connects to the PBX and T1's?

Thanks,
Carol

You need to use RJ-48 patch cables. It is very simple to insert. wire from the jack or demarcation point that your T1 provider has provided to the inline coupler (say port 1 in) and then from port 1 out to the PBX. The couplers that we are using only support 8 T1s but you must fill all eight T1s before going to the next coupler.

Thanks TOLSON, that helps alot. Can you tell me exactly what they will plug into for the PBX? I know you said that the line would go into the coupler from the demarc and then out to the PBX. But what exactly is it going to plug into on the physical PBX?

Thanks again,
Carol

The T1 cable going from the PBX to the Demarcation point provided by your T1 supplier. The cable will be unplugged from the demarcation point and plugged into the T1 coupler. A new cable will then have to be run from the coupler to the demarcation point. Nice will not do this work. It is expected that when they come onsite to do the install the coupler will have already been installed.
