I'M NEW TO THE MAGIC SYSTEM....MY WHOLE EXPERIENCE IS HELPING A TECH INSTALL ONE....MY QUESTION IS... CAN THE DID EXTS #s BE PROGRAMED ON TWO CONSOLS...THE CUST IS NOT USING ALL OF THE DIDS SO WANTS TO HAVE THE LEFT OVER #s APPEAR ON THE TWO CONSOLS AS INDIVIDUAL APPEARANCES AND HIS PROVIDER (ATG)WILL PUT THE LEFT OVER #s IN A HUNT GRP WITH THE TWO COPPER TRUNKS... HOW THIS CAN BE PROGRAMED...IF AT ALL..

You would have to assign the DIDs to mfm's and then primary cover them on the desired buttons. The alternative is to assign them to sls ports and do hard wire loopbacks to line ports. Then assign the lines as desired. What I don't get is why set up a roll over group when you are using DIDs? They roll already.

You can assign a DID # to each console to direct calls to a specific console, but what purpose would you have to put spare DID #s on a console? DID numbers are not DID trunks. They do not hunt in and of themselves. In the CO switch the hunting is done in a DID trunk group with the DID TRUNKS, not the numbers! The numbers point to the trunk group with a route index. This is how the trunks and numbers are linked together in the CO switch.

These two coppers trunks you mention, what kind of trunks are they: DID or BWT loop or ground-start? Are they a backup for the T1, or overflo ?

Also how are your consoles configured, as QCCs or DLCs? You can't put appearances on QCCs.

THANKS GUYS FOR THE REPLY.....I'M SORRY I'M NOT VERY CLEAR ON MY PROBLEM....THE 2 COPPER TRUNKS ARE THE PRIMARY TELE #S FOR THE TWO DIFFERENT DIVISIONS.....THE IT TECH WHO SET THIS UP WANTED TO USE THE REMAING 10 DIDS AS ROLLOVER CAUSE HE HAD TO PURCHASE A GROUP OF 20 DID FROM THE LEC..AND HIS CARRIER ATG SAID THEY COULD HUNT THE REMAING DIDS TO THE TWO COPPER TRUNKS IN THEIR SWITCH..I HAVE TWO DLC W/DSS ONE WILL HAVE A COPPER TRUNK AND 5 OF THE DIDS THE OTHER CONS WILL HAVE THE OTHER COPPER AND 5 DIDS..NOW THE CUST WANTS 3-DIG PLAN BUT NOT POINT THE DIDS #s TO A MATCHING EXT #... PAPABEAR PLEASE BE A LITTLE MORE SPECIFIC ON THE PROGM OF MFM AND COVER BUTTONS..

As I said above... - let's try this another way. DID numbers are NOT DID TRUNK numbers, two separate entities. DID trunks DO NOT have ringing current like POTS lines do! POTS lines have Dialtone, DID trunks DO NOT. DID trunks CAN NOT be called directly, only INdirectly with the DID number. They are selected by the CO switch DID trunk group. The order inwhich they are selected is determined by parameters setup for the TG. Hunting on POTS lines is setup in the CO switch on a line-by-line basis as a series completion, circular, random, or multiline(MLH) arrangement.

Now, from your description above, it seems like all you need is POTS or "POTS like" service - not DID service. As usual IT does not know or understand the difference between TELCO types of service offerings and how they are used or operate!

OK, if you do want to use DID service for this application, then you only need one DID number per console. The public is only going to call one number per division - right? So on each DLC you would assign one DID number as the station number and have additional SA RING buttons assigned on those phones for multiple calls to appear. By having x amount of SA RING buttons you can control the quantity of calls that can appear on the DLC before the caller gets a busy or other call treatment conditions apply.

Now this copper trunk you mention, what configuration is it?? Unless you are using it as a backup it does not seem to have any purpose. Please explain further....

Hope this helps!
