When I ask/tell the phone company how I would like my line/channels setup what is the recommeded setup. I would like to use DID, so do I get all channels with DID setup? Some? I need more then one line ringing in on EXT 10/AA so how does this work? Do some of the channels get grouped with the main line, and some channels get setup with DID? If someone can give me an example - i.e. I would be getting 16 Channels, an we will have 26 EXT and would like the reception and AA to pickup and transfer calls on the main number, but I would also like to have the ability to have individual numbers assigned to them.

Sorry for the newbie questions...

when you set it up in the software. You will choose which lines are DID. You can have them all set up as DID and still throw them in poll 890. If you want the lines to ring on 10 and another ext, you will have to manually set that other extension as a non pooled ext and put the lines there.
Is the main number a did or is it just e&m? If the operator wants a personal mailbox as well as a general I would have the line come in E&m. otherwise you will have to make ext 10's vm box an AA mbox....

So am I correct in saying that when I order this line I should have something as follows:

16 Channels -

8 E&M for the Main Pool
2 E&M for Fax(s)
6 DID for Direct Dialing

Thanks for the help on this...

It doesnt matter to the lec which are for fax and which are for main pool. Are the faxes going to be DID's? But yes, that is correct.

when your lec sets up the t-1, do you have to let them know the last 16 channels are to be used for voice?

I have had trouble with the DID's. If the provider can send two way DIDS you are ok. If not you need to make a few channels did channels, also in my case the provider was sending ani and all DID calls went to Ext. 10. Caller ID is not supported. Hope this helps
