I am having all sorts of group policy problems and errors with SYSVOL. I followed the Microsoft FAQ for rebuilding the sysvol tree and came up with this:

linkd c:\windows\sysvol\sysvol\av3pdom.com.au
c:\windows\sysvol\sysvol\av3pdom.com.au is not linked to another directory.

The FAQ says to do this to re-create the junction points if the above fails:
linkd c:\windows\sysvol\sysvol\AV3PDOM.COM.AU c:\windows\sysvol\domain

But I get this error message:
Cannot create a link at: c:\windows\sysvol\sysvol\AV3PDOM.COM.AU

I have been googling for hours and have been unable to find any solutions for such a stupid, informative error message. Can anyone please shed some light on this for me?

Your syntax is backwards for linkd. It should be:
Code:
linkd C:\windows\sysvol\domain c:\windows\sysvol\sysvol\AV3PDOM.COM.AU

And remember - if you make a mistake when creating a junction DO NOT DELETE IT. You will delete the contents of the folder it is pointing at. Read more by typing
Code:
linkd /?
