I have a very simple setup for SMS:

1 SMS server, running WIndows2003 server, IIS, SQL2000 SP1, SMS2003 SP1.

300 client machines/servers/etc.

I installed SMS/SQL, then had it discover the clients. About 1/3 of them assigned themselves to the site, the rest did not.

I've done this so far:
Set up server as MP
Extended Schema
Tried Network and AD discovery

I've also only been able to install the advanced client to 2 machines, one XP SP2 and one Win2K SP4. All others fail, whether pushed or locally installed. These fail even if the machine has assigned itself to the site.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Dan

You need to set you boundaries....by default, the subnet that the SMS server belongs to is set as a boundary (This is probably why some clients are assigned).

Right click your SMS Site Server in the SMS Console. Choose Properties and then select the Boundaries tab.

You can use Subnets, or AD.
