Hi, i have a wierd prob w/ my comp. When i start up, and log into Windows XP, everything starts out fine then grinds to a halt. I open up the task manager and found a process called System32.exe eating up my cpu usage. once i disable it, everything is fine again. I have heard of the system32 virus but i have no trouble starting up, no system errors or anything. Anyone have the same prob?

Try an online scan to see if you actually have a virus or if it's a Windows thing. faq760-3862

Howdy:

System32.exe IS a virus file - many difefrent virii will drop it onto your system.

If I were you, I would get a different av program as the one you are using isn't doing it's job.. However, if you aren't using an av program, then what are you doing with a computer??

Go to one of the links given to you above.. then, get a good av program installed and keep it updated.. If you don't, you deserve every little bit of problems and system wipeouts you get !!
