System with R10 Licenses running R9.1

I came across a IPO 500 V2 running R9.1 with R10 licenses, previous vendor sold the customer two old VCM 32 V1 boards and installed R9.1, I am sure he wanted to take advantage of the 24 virtual end points. My biggest concern is if the system is locked in R10 or in R9.1? My best guess is that the system is locked in R10 and then it was downgraded, that makes sense but maybe Avaya allows a system locked in R9.1 to run on R10 licenses? Is there a way to find out the release that the IP Office it is locked in without upgrading to R10 just to find out the system will require the R10 upgrade licenses?

If 10.x licenses then it is PLDS and you can do this.
The system is not really locked anymore with PLDS.

As long as I am not going to stumble upon a nasty licensing surprise once we take the system to R10 then I am good! Really the reason I am concerned is because I already told the customer that we can take the system to R10 without any problems but it wasn't until after I had clicked send that I thought about the locked in situation. I am not sure if he is going to forfeit the free end point licenses but you never know. I do appreciate the help!
