Can anyone tell me the use of System user. why it is created and when should we use it.

Thanks in advance.

I have put your query into Google and got following explanation:

SYS
SYS is the owner of the database and the owner of the data dictionary. Never ever create objects under SYS. The objects belonging to SYS cannot be exported.

SYSTEM
SYSTEM is a privileged administration user, and typically owns Oracle provided tables other than

Personaly, when I write script for startup/shutdown of iAS database I use SYS:

connect SYS/<password> as SYSDBA

then start or shutdwon and quit.

Hope this helps

Thank you Dubravko,

Even i have tried looking it in Google but at the best i too got the same result. so though of putting it in my favorite forum, hope someone will have something else better than this.

Thank you once again for your interest in answering to my query.

For a more thorough explanation, try posting in the Oracle: Oracle release - 9i or 10g forums. There are several MVPs there, who do not frequent this forum, who can give you a good answer.
