I just reinstalled Office97 because my machine had crashed but after I did everything worked fine except access. I get a message that states I do not have a license for the product. I am reinstallling from my original CD(Office97 Professional Edition). Has any body come across this problem and what did you do to correct the problem.

It looks that you can not open your DB. I met such cases before. I simple created blank Acc DB, Then imported All DB objects include specs and menus from old DB, set Startup. After this new DB worked OK.

The other possibility is that somewhere you have the dreaded "Hattenschweiler" font installed for another app.
This is a known bug (known by Microsoft) and has something to do with that particular font not being included in '97.
(This happened to me when I installed Access 97 over Office 2000). To fix, do "Search" from the "Start" button in the tool tray for either that name, or "Hatten". When you find out where the heck your machine has stashed it, rename it.
Then reboot (don't know if reSTART will do it). Go ahead and reinstall Access. If the problem goes away, cool! If not, wrong fix. I never bothered reinstalling the font afterwards, but I suppose you could try. It isn't one of the neat ones anyway!

You might also try re-installing Access in a different directory from your original Office. Went through this in trying to install Access 2000 on a machine which already had Ofc. 2000 Small Business version. Installing in a different directory did away with the No License message.

Good Luck
