I have a Dell Laptop......When I try to start it up, it takes like 5 minutes for it tot get from the password to the desktop. It seems to run fine after that.....it jus takes forever. It was not doing this last week, it just started it a couple of days ago. i have run my antivirus, a registry cleaner, and when i try to run my adware remover it always hangs up on......Windows/System32/inetsrv

Any suggestions would be appreciated......
thanks

Have you stored any large files on your desktop? Large desktop folders can cause slowdowns during logon.

The inetsrv directory contains plugins for services like smtp and nntp. I would disable those services temporarily to see if that speeds up your logon time. If it does, those services are causing your delay - perhaps a timeout trying to reach a time source or something?

Try downloading ad-aware and using that to clean out your system.

Also, run MSConfig from a command prompt, go to the Startup tab, and see if any suspiscious programs are running at startup, but be careful not to disable system processes if you are unsure of what they are for.

Thanks,
Andrew
