siemens hipath 3550
when tried to open manager e for hipath 3550 it shows system is offline i changed cable, reinstalled manager but problem is as it is

Is it a serial cable connection or a LAN cable

Check the speed of the link - default is 9600 but it can be changed.
Try different speeds or get into the main phone *95 31994 31994 remote access menu (which I forget)

Are you using a USB to Serial adapter? When I had my old Hicom 150 (which became the original 3000) it was VERY anal retentive about the serial connection. I had to keep an ald laptop around that had a real serial port. At that time I tried several brands of USB-Serial and none of them would let me admin that system. I have since started using Black Box USB - Serial, and while more expensive they seem to be more compatible with my applications. I don't have the 150 anymore - I upgraded everything last year, so I never tried it without the old laptop. I also used the cable they shipped with the 150 because I have had issues with cables, but others have stated it doesn't matter which cable you use.

Doesn't the serial cable need to be null? I recall using a 9pin to 25 pin serial cable that was originally for a Skytel 2-way pager charging/interface port. I thought it was null.

I'm not sure. I always used the 9 - 25 cable that Siemens provided with the system for that purpose. I don't know if it was straight thru or null, but it won't hurt to drop a null modem adapter on the 25-pin end and see if it works.

Hi the cable needs to be a null modem, I use 9 pin female to female & an unbranded USB to Serial out of Maplins. In my experience the OFF LINE message usually means you are using the wrong Com port.Check the device manager for the correct port. If you select the wrong Baud rate Manager E will try to connect but time out after 4 minutes in which case change untill you get the correct speed. Hope this helps
