System Security Options

Hi - according to my manual, once I get into System Administration, option 8 should be System Security. It isn't - if I hit 8, I get a "entry not understood' error.

I'm using Merlin Mail V7.5 connected to a Legend Release 3.

How do I get into security ?

Did you hit "9" to get to the programming menu first? If so, then listen to the prompts; It might also be nested under system parameters, option 1

Hi, yes, I did hit 9 to go to system programming. All the prompts are as listed in my manual, except that there's no prompt for 8, and hitting 8 gives a "Entry not Understood". I tried listning to all the prompts under system parameters too, not there, and 8 gives me "Maximum Digit Length".

Is there some way that it can have been disabled ?

You went to far into the menu, on entering Admin programming, you selected option 1- System Parameters.

You should call the VM system > Enter Administrators Mailbox > Enter password > Dial 9 > Enter password > Dial 8 (System Security).

Hi Franke, yes, that was what I was doing first, Tommy suggested that maybe security was nested under system parameters, so I tried that too. If I go to the VM, enter the administration mailbox, then hit 9, I get the prompts

1- System parameters
2- Schedule
3- Automated attendant
4- Mailboxes
5- Group Lists
7- System Greetings
*# to quit

The manual says 8 should be System Security, but there's no such prompt, and hitting 8 just gives an Entry not Understood" error. The only issue is that my manual says Release 3 while the actual unit says Release 7.5 (Avaya's web page has no documentation for a Release 7.5)

The merlin mail 7.5 is a Most likely the VERY OLD mail that works on the legend and the Merlin II. If it is, it has LESS features than the R3 and that is why you can't find the menus.

Check under system parameters to see if you get a legend/Merlin II choice. If you do, you know it is ancient.

I've only seen the 7.4 and it is the Old one (I guess the AT&T world 7.4 comes before 3) I havent seen a manual. If any one can locate one, let me know.

Yes, the first menu option under System Parameters is Merlin II or Merlin Legend, whereas my manual says it should be Single or Multiple Automated Attendant. So it looks like I have a much older system than I thought :-(

If anyone knows where I can get a manual, I'd be gratefull.
