Good Evening

Concerning the Microsoft Update that fixes the bug in System Restore, is there a specific folder on one's system this should be downloaded to? Or does it matter?

And secondly, since this patch disables all previous restore points, is it best, before downloading the patch to disable the System Restore function - reboot, and start clean ?

Thanks in advance for any comments!

Doesn't matter where you download it to. If you're just running the Windows Update, it will automatically install it for you. I'd load the patch, reboot, then disable system restore, reboot, reenable it, reboot, and you'll have a fresh set of restore points. You should do this once in awhile to keep the _restore folder from taking up too much space.
