Oh Boy ! Do I have a problem. I have a Pentium 4, 2.0, 512 Ram running XP Pro. I am unable to use the System Restore function. It list several restore points, when I select one and start the process it runs through the procedure, shuts down and restarts. Then it tells me it was not able to restore the machine and that no changes have been made. The Restore function is turned on at the System Restore Tab at MY COMPUTER. What do I do to get this function to work properly. Thanks, Ed

Start, Run, eventvwr. See what they System event log says about the reason for the error.

Some general rules when you try again: Make sure you logon as Administrator or have Administratove priviliges. Use Safe Mode.

Microsoft's Advice here probably is useful for the future:

System Restore will not be able to restore your system to any point (or time) where your computer configuration is/was faulty. It can only restore to a fault free configuration.

You can check your system configuration to some extent by using the Event Viewer and checking for errors and warnings. You can type MSinfo32 in the Start Run box and browse through the results.
