I have a system that reboots whenever I bump or move the case. Any idea what might be causing this. The system runs flawlessly any other time. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I had this several years ago - it turned out to be a loose connection within the power supply. Just replace the PSU unit.

Could be any loose or shorting conductor. Take the case apart and look first. If nothing is obvious then wiggle things one at a time until you find the problem.

This includes the switch wires and connections. Power, reset, etc.

There is much pleasure to be gained from useless knowledge. (Bertrand Russell)

And can be a failure to ground properly through the power cord. But should also fail if you just touch it.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

Power cords can fit very loosely so should be checked together with internal connections generally but I got to go with jrbarnett and say it is most likely a power supply fault.
I've had 4 or 5 over the last year exactly the same as yours.
Tap around the PSU to establish that it is indeed faulty.

Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

If you use wire ties make sure nothing is hitting the case. Also I had a guy with a bad floppy drive one time that had a piece of metal shorting the whole computer out. Everytime it got hit it would knock out the Computer.
