I have Windows XP installed and have 3 user accounts on this machine - Patricia (Admin, me), Joann, and James. When I boot my machine, and try to log in as Patricia, no problems. I can log in as James, no problems. But when I log on as Joann, the system chugs and chugs and then goes to a blue screen - the hourglass displays for a couple seconds, then the cursor shows up, and then... nothing, it sits and chugs a long time. Then it drops into CHKDSK which finds errors (mostly orphaned files, it says) and says it's correcting the problems. Then the system reboots, and I have the option to log in as one of the 3 users on the system again. If I choose user Joann, it goes back through the same system hanging/CHKDSK routine. This problem started this morning and I can't find any reason for it. I've run adware tools, antivirus, spybots, and they're not finding any major problems.
I hope someone here can offer some suggestions as to how to fix the problem. Also, would like to know how, if we can't get Joann's settings to work anymore, to get access to her e-mail and files (since the user with Admin rights is me and I'd think there would be some way to retrieve her info)?
Thanks so much!
Patty
