Hi,
Once my system (solaris 7) was shut down abnormal,
there always be no response before the CDE login interface appears.
Please give me some advice.

Yuan

Did you system just reboot? If so, look in the /var/adm/messages file for any info concerning the reboot.
What is your hardware type?

Tuka:
Thanks for your reply.
How can I get the useful hint from /var/admin/message file?
I had checked file system, but that did not work, so I had to reinstall the system from cdrom, but there was no response when the setup process get to the "Hostname Input", that happened whenever I use solaris 7 or 8!
The hardware type is double-sparc 450 CPU, double-512M RAM, One 36G hard-disk, Three 10/100M Network Cards, no other peripheral equipment.
I think there must be some hardware device problem,
all the problem appear when need to "input".
Can you give some advice?

What are you using for an input device? Sun keyboard or a Dumb Terminal?

Can you boot -s from the cdrom?
ok boot -s cdrom (this will boot the system up using the cdrom)

Does the system come up to the ok prompt after power up or does it continue to boot?

Hi,
I find that the problem is that when I neet to "input" something at OpenWindows, the system does not have any response.
It is said that is some problem with the display adapter, I asked reseller changed it, now, the problem is resolved.

Thanks
